About the Project

For this home in the Hollywood Hills, DFA was challenged to incorporate the client’s desired program onto a rugged and limiting piece of property.  Keeping the central theme of pacific fault lines in mind, DFA proposed a layout for the ideal home, and then‘broke’ the architecture around a central pivot point, thus kinking the structure to fit into the available property. The majority of the home is south facing, and the articulated design allowed for the client to maintain all south facing views. DFA then designed a metal mesh screen, which would wrap the home and shroud the exterior of the building in shade, while still allowing for the poignant views.
