About the Project

Stamford was the first prototyped new design for Design Within Reach. This store was deemed the test bed for all the new ideas and concepts that DFA proposed to DWR. Everything from Design Desk to Lighting Clouds, Lighting Walls and Tools for Living (shelving system for small items) were tested at this location. Most have survived and gone on to become major elements in the subsequent stores and some have morphed into alternative designs and directions. The store itself still remains as a testament to the initial ideas DFA brought to DWR’s brick and mortar retail.
