About the Project

Sperry engaged DFA to design contemporary architecture in its first stand-alone store, with a nod to the brand’s staid nautical roots. Yacht sailing offered inspiration for the space and the flooring mimics the ash decks of contemporary sailboats. The display cases are designed like rolling library stacks, and move along castors to create separate shelving units, and alternatively, one solid cube. When separated, the units house stock of all the company’s iconic shoes. Or when they are rolled together, they bear large brand imagery. The interchangeable formats allows for the retail space to be used for corporate events and receptions.
